Puerto Princesa, Palawan: A Nature's Haven: The Side Trips (Part 2 of 3)

This blog will feature the side trips of our Puerto Princesa, Palawan trip.

After our Island Hopping tour at wonderful Honda Bay, we didn't allow a second to tick a minute, we took a shower in our hotel and headed for a short city tour. Due to time constraint we were just able to visit, Tiangge Tiangge, Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral, Plaza Cuartel and their version of Baywalk.

Tiangge Tiangge is the pasalubong center of Puerto Princesa, Palawan
These unique native stuff are very saleable to tourist.
These bags are so colorful and sturdy.
One of the places to visit in Puerto Princesa is Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral.
You will feel solemnity inside the cathedral.

Just beside the cathedral is "Plaza Cuartel", built during WWII.

This kalesa is one of the things you can find inside Plaza Cuartel which is now a park.
Nights are always waited to come here in their baywalk.
The whole strip is full of lights and street food for people who just want to seat and chitchat or just stroll with friends.

Day 3 of our tour is one of the most awaited, it was our Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) tour. We were excited to see what we campaigned and voted for. Along the way to PPUR is another adventure for us to explore, Ugong Rock Adventures. Being run by former kaingeros with the help of other NGOs like ABS-CBN Foundation, it becomes one of the most visited tourist spots in Puerto Princesa.

Live. Laugh. Love. as we live our life, we tried some caving, even with doubts and fear in our heart that we cant make it to the top of the 175 ft- rock, we signed the registration form and readied ourselves for some climbing and spelunking.

Surrounded by mountains and trees is Ugong Rock Adventures.
Rock formations in Ugong Rock are so fascinating.
You can also find a different rock formation like this which glitters and shimmers.
This rock formation is already a column (when stalactites and stalagmites meet). Knocking on the rock will created an ugong (like a sound of a half full bottle plus echo) sound, that's why it was named such.

You will really feel your adrenaline rush in climbing the rocks.
Spelunking is the main highlight of the whole caving experience.
This is what you can see from the top of Ugong Rock, lush of greens and mountain view.
There are two ways to go down: first, the same trails when you go up or second, zipline. This is what they called the fastest zipline in the country, with a length of 350 m and 21 second-travel time.
